Vaccine development for cryptosporidiosis: Systematic review

Cryptosporidium spp. are opportunistic parasites with zoonotic potential transmitted by ingestion of contaminated water and food, the infection consists severe diarrhea leading to death babies immunocompromised individuals. In veterinary, it can generate economic losses due calves, these animals being a possible source transmission parasite. Nitazoxanide halofuginone only drugs approved for treatment in humans calves respectively, however there restrictions on their use. There is still no vaccine against cryptosporidiosis or its development great challenge. Our objective present work was write systematic review literature addressing progress studies vaccines cryptosporidiosis. The recommended guidelines RSL were used, aid StArt software (State Art through Systematic Rewiews). research took place databases: Lilacs, PubMed, Scielo, Science Direct, Scopus, Embase Medline. 30% selected articles, study animal 50% mice; 40% derived from recombinant proteins aimed at inhibiting parasite entering cells activating host's protective immunity. So far, proven efficacy an ideal cost-benefit has been developed. Many candidate antigenic targets have characterized, addition elucidating immunogenicity mechanism infected individual. However, another be searched future studies.
